Scenic Driving: Route 231 and Skyline Drive are gorgeous!

Skydiving: Skydive with Skydive Orange!

Hot Air Ballooning: Take to the skies at a more leisurely pace with Monticello Country Ballooning or Blue Ridge Balloon.

Hiking: Old Rag Mountain is a favorite in the area. There are other trails and hikes according to skill level – just ask your innkeeper!

The Montpelier-Grelen Trail, A designated “Virginia Treasure”, links Montpelier’s Landmark Forest Trails and Grelen Nursery. Hikers can now explore 9 miles of trails through old-growth forests, meadows, and tree nursery rows, in an area steeped in history with magnificent views of the Blue Ridge and Southwest mountains.

Horseback Riding:  Oakland Heights Farm will take you on a western-style trail ride, for all levels of riders.

Kayaking: Guided kayaking for the novice or expert on the Rapidan River with Beth at Rapidan River Kayaking.

Fishing: Lake Orange offers boat rentals (during operational hours), general fishing, the marina, the handicapped-accessible pier, and picnic area year round.  Angler’s Landing tackle shop is located at Lake Orange offering live bait and lures as well as a snack bar.

Bull Riding Show: Oakland Heights Farm is host to BLM Bull Riding events the second Saturday of the month May thru September. A family-friendly atmosphere includes live music, mutton busting and ladies barrel racing plus food concessions benefiting the Gordonsville Fire Department.
