A Patriotic Weekend in Central Virginia, Inns at Montpelier

America’s birthday is right around the corner and it is time to celebrate! Come spend a fun patriotic weekend at one of the Inns at Montpelier and enjoy some of the events happening in central Virginia. From a 5k race to an annual car show to a relaxing day at the vineyard, there are fun events for everyone!

Anyone who is looking to start their Fourth of July morning with a run or a walk this event is perfect for you. The town of Culpeper will be holding the 2019 Freedom 5k Race at the Culpeper Baptist Church. The race will begin at 9 a.m. and there will be fun run for babies, toddlers and children starting directly after the 5k begins.

If you have a love for cars or are just looking for fun, the town of Culpeper will be also having their Annual Culpeper Downtown 4th of July Car and Motorcycle Show. This event begins at 10 a.m. and will take place in historic downtown Culpeper on Davis St. in front of the Depot. There will be an assortment of cars being showcased such as custom, classic and antique cars, hot rods, street rods, motorcycles and trucks. The event is free for everyone and vendors will be on site selling ice cream, barbeque, burgers and more.

For those who are looking to spend their Fourth of July relaxing with some wine, Keswick Vineyards will be holding Reds, Whites and Bluegrass. Come enjoy some great red and white Virginia wines and listen to some bluegrass music performed by local band, Old Dogs New Tricks. There is no entry fee for this event and it will begin at 12 p.m. Come hungry because food vendors will be available for you to get a delicious lunch. All-ages are welcomed as well as pets!

Any history lovers looking to spend their Fourth of July weekend learning about America’s history can visit an assortment of historic attractions during your visit in central Virginia. The presidential homes tours is a great place to start. Eight U.S. presidents have homes still standing in Virginia and several of them are very close to one another, making it easy to visit them all in one day! All of the Inns provide a delicious and hearty breakfast for their guests, but after a long day of fun you probably have worked up quite an appetite. What would Fourth of July be without fireworks? End your Fourth of July evening relaxing at the Yowell Meadow Park in Culpeper. The town of Culpeper will be showing a great firework show, beginning at 9:15 p.m.

If you did not get enough Fourth of July celebration and fun, that is okay because it doesn’t have to end there. On Saturday, July 6, the 6th Annual Playin’ in the Park Independence Celebration is happening at Booster Park in Orange, Virginia. Gates to the event will open at 5pm and fireworks will be shown at dark. There will be live music, kid activities, Touch-A-Truck and more. A great event for everyone!
